Authorities: Wounded Fayette County deputy improving, faces long recovery
from Austin American-Statesman
A Fayette County sheriff's deputy who was shot in the face last week while trying to arrest a wanted felon is getting better, but faces a long road to recovery and possible blindness, authorities said Monday. Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek said in a statement Monday that Deputy Calvin "CJ" Lehmann, a 32-year-old single father of three girls, lost his left eye as a result of a shotgun blast to the face, and that doctors were still trying to save his right eye.
