SSH currently has 30 interest groups in a wide range of disciplines and areas of interest to our members. The groups are required to hold meetings at IMSH each year so that their members can spend some time together and make plans for their projects and goals for the coming year. We are in the process now of scheduling those meetings with the assistance of the Chair and Vice Chair of each group. This year we are offering two and three hour time slots so that the groups can have more time together, as well as additional time slots for work groups and extra meetings, as needed. We know how valuable that face to face time is!

If you are a member of any interest groups and are attending IMSH, please be sure to get to as many meetings as you can. If you have not yet joined any groups, take the opportunity at IMSH to attend any meetings that sound interesting to you to learn more about their group activities. This is an opportunity to meet SSH members who share your same simulation interests. If you have not volunteered within one of those groups, please think about doing so now. If you are not a member of SSH, you are still eligible for membership in any one of the Affinity Groups. Take a look at the list and sign up for any that interest you.

SSH members tell us over and over again that one of the reasons they belong to SSH is for the networking opportunities with simulation professionals around the world. IMSH offers the perfect opportunity to network face to face with other simulation professionals and one of the best starting points is attending some interest group meetings.

If you want some assistance in figuring out what group(s) to join, contact Ashley Grossman at She will be able to help you with this. Take a look at the list of groups here. We have two groups that were just approved and are not yet on the list: Journal Club and Mindfulness.
