from Forbes

ACSM’s emphasis on exercise as a very effective medicine is referenced in this feature that highlights key takeaways from the second edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, as well as several ACSM members involved with the updated guidelines.

What's the bottom line about the new Physical Activity Guidelines for America? If you are the average American, you should probably be moving your bottom and everything attached it more than you are doing now.

Instead, this second edition has 3 general additions. The first is significantly more information about the benefits of physical activity and the risks of sedentary behavior. Over the past decade, much more information has emerged about the physical, emotional, and mental health benefits of getting more physical activity. As the American College of Sports Medicine has emphasized, exercise is medicine, very effective medicine. more
