With 164 million American consumers expected to flex their shopping muscle between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday in what's expected to be record holiday sales season this year, retailers are also bracing for a record of a different kind. Organized retail crime (or ORC) has hit yet another high this year, costing retailers an average of $777,877 per $1 billion in sales in the past year, up 7% from the previous record set last year, according to the 14th annual ORC study by the National Retail Federation released Monday.
