Law enforcement mentors working with students in troubled neighborhoods
from San Antonio Express-News
Joe Cantu, a litigation support technology specialist for U.S. Attorney John Bash, sat down Wednesday morning at a table in Margil Academy's library, sipping a Diet Coke while the 12-year-old Spanish-speakers around him drank chocolate milk. Cantu and other employees of the federal prosecutor’s office were visiting the West Side San Antonio school to talk to English-learner students in small groups. The students got to practice casual conversations and gain confidence in their speaking abilities. And the U.S. Attorney’s Office staff got to build trust with children in a neighborhood with one of the city's highest violent crime rates.
