A better bridge
from Roads & Bridges
In 2014, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) initiated the full replacement of a 115-year-old bridge in the village of Thomaston, New York. Thomaston, located in Nassau County, Long Island, is a mere 0.4 sq miles. The town is separated in two by a single-line railroad track which opened in 1898, and has since acted to benefit commuters to and from Manhattan and the surrounding area.
