Officers killed in the line of duty up in 2018
from St. Joseph News-Press
The number of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in the United States increased from 2017 to 2018, according to a preliminary report. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund said 145 federal, state, local and territorial officers died in 2018, a 12 percent increase from the 129 who died in 2017. "As a law enforcement officer, as an agency, it's something you don't want to hear," said Sgt. Jake Angle with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. "It's unfortunate."
