In 2019, healthcare expansion is name of the game

from Orlando Sentinel

While some estimates show that about 30 hospitals across the nation close each year, steady population growth has propelled Central Florida's four health systems — AdventHealth, HCA Healthcare, Nemours Children's Hospital and Orlando Health — to the opposite direction. The populations of Orange, Osceola and Lake each grew by 10 percent or more between 2010 and 2017, according to the latest data from the University of Florida's Bureau of Economic and Business Research. And the population of those three counties, in addition to Seminole, will grow from 2.5 million in 2018 to at least 3.8 million in 2045, according to the bureau's estimates, "Competition is as fierce as ever," said Greg Ohe, senior vice president of ambulatory services at Orlando Health. more
