Fact vs. Fake: Here's How Fact Checks Perform on Facebook Compared to Hoaxes
Misinformation has long found a home on Facebook. In 2018, Facebook referrals were a huge driver of traffic for fake and hyperpartisan news sites. Last year researchers found that about one-quarter of the U.S. reads fake news and one-quarter reads fact checks — and those groups don't overlap much. That finding was echoed in a study published recently.
