Powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake hits Peru-Ecuador border

A 7.5 magnitude earthquake shook Ecuador early Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey. The quake's epicenter was located about 70 miles east-southeast of Palora, Ecuador, at a depth of 82 miles, according to the report. The earthquake that struck at 10:17 a.m. GMT had originally been reported as a magnitude 7.7, but was later adjusted to 7.5.
