New Niagara Falls water plant will cost Region $130 million
from St. Catharines Standard
Niagara Region has taken the first steps in another expensive infrastructure project — a wastewater treatment plant in Niagara Falls that will cost more than $130 million. The contract for a large-scale environmental assessment and conceptual design for the plant was awarded to GM BluePlan Engineering Ltd., a consulting and engineering firm headquartered in Guelph with about 150 employees. The cost of preparing environmental assessment and conceptual design is $1.8 million, staff reported to the Region's public works committee last month.
