The TL Robertson Library at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, is set to receive a major upgrade for the first time in its 47-year history. The iconic Brutalist structure will be modernized by Schmidt Hammer Lassen in time for the library’s 50th anniversary in 2022. Originally constructed in 1972, the facility, which serves as a central landmark on the university landscape, accommodates two million visitors. “We were driven by three core principles when designing TL Robertson Library: openness, access, and well-being,” said Morten Schmidt, founding partner of Schmidt Hammer Lassen.
