From the Desk of the Director of Meetings and Exhibits

from SSH

Very shortly, those in our industry database will receive information on exhibiting at SimOps 2019, July 17-19. The conference will be at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in beautiful and historic Norfolk, Virginia, and is expected to attract upwards of 300 SimOps professionals. More than 20 exhibitors are expected to participate as an integral part of the educational experience.

In preparing the SimOps information, I thought about industry and our exhibitors, where we’ve been, where we are and where we anticipate growing. I felt this would be an excellent time to review all the avenues available to industry within SSH.

So, just where does industry fit into SSH and what is available? Often, in many associations, industry is and often thought of only in terms of exhibiting. I am proud to say the role of industry in SSH reaches far beyond exhibiting. Industry partners have a voice within SSH, a seat on the Board of Directors and are sought out for their insight and experience.

Reflecting … it all began in early 2009 when a small group of exhibitors and SSH leaders met in a conference room and explored the answer to: “How do we turn an ‘us and them’ into a ‘we’?” From that meeting came the birth of the Corporate Council (now called Corporate Roundtable). Up until that time, exhibiting at IMSH was the only avenue for industry to interact with professionals within the SSH simulation community. An early Corporate Council membership of less than 10 has grown into a vibrant today grown to a vibrant committee of 30 members committed to healthcare simulation and viewed as integral partners with the SSH, providing additional perspective and insight on the rapidly changing science of medical simulation.

How to be involved:
