Texas police chiefs and sheriffs warn state: Don't decriminalize pot
Police chiefs and sheriffs from across Texas urged lawmakers to reject legislation that would expand medical marijuana use and decriminalize low-levels of pot possession. One of the bills the Texas Police Chiefs Association and Sheriffs' Association of Texas oppose passed out of the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee in a 5-2 vote on Monday. House Bill 63 would downgrade low-level marijuana possession from a criminal penalty to a civil one.
