Enriching periodontal health through regenerative advancements

Regarding periodontal therapy, advancements in materials and techniques have shifted treatment modalities from being largely reparative to more regenerative in nature. Regenerative techniques seek to restore the anatomy, following the tenets of biomimetic dentistry to achieve a result that is more respectful to the body’s natural tissues and that provides more stable long-term outcomes. A variety of such techniques have been investigated. This article examines some of these regenerative approaches and presents evidence from the AAP to support or contradict their use in different clinical scenarios.
