Advisor vs. coach: Is there really a difference?
from By Roberta Matuson
I'm often contacted by people who tell me they are looking for a coach when what they need is a trusted advisor. The words advisor and coach are frequently used interchangeably. However, they are actually quite different. Understanding the distinction will ensure that you hire the right person for your needs. An advisor is someone who is a subject matter expert in an area that's of importance to you. This person provides advice based on your particular situation. A coach is someone who is an expert on the processes required to create behavioral changes.
