The federal government should invest in a publicly funded child-care system, according to a new report that claims it would increase gender equality and boost the economy. Many Canadians are struggling with some of the highest child-care costs in the world and face lengthy waiting lists for spots, with families in Toronto paying as much as $20,000 a year for infant care, according to Oxfam Canada.
