Hurricane Dorian Devastates Bahamas
The Bahamas are starting to see some relief after more than 48 hours of siege by Hurricane Dorian. This historic hurricane made landfall as a Category 5 on Sunday night and was at a complete standstill until mid-Tuesday, pummeling the Bahamas.
First responders and emergency physicians have already deployed to the Bahamas or are on standby to assist with relief efforts.
If you're interested in helping out, we have a connection with the Bahamas Ministry of Health and local rescue groups. Please contact Arlington Butler at 242-437-9125 on Whatsapp and name drop "Dr. Adrian Tyndall / FCEP" to get involved.
, 19 patients have been airlifted from Marsh Harbour Hospital in the Abaco Islands and flooding has forced Rand Memorial Hospital on Grand Bahama to evacuate. Five deaths have been reported so far, and photos show complete devastation from the high winds and storm-surge flooding.
Today, Hurricane Dorian will come dangerously close to Florida's east coast as it moves northward towards Georgia and the Carolinas. We've learned from Hurricane Matthew in 2016 that a hurricane doesn't have to make landfall to be deadly. Heed all local orders from state officials, stay safe and consider volunteering your time for relief efforts in any way possible.
