How to save on child care in Canada despite spaces being scarce
from The Star
Election campaigning has kicked off and child care is rising to the top of the list of issues Canadians care about most. With the exception of Quebec, where universal child care has been in place for over 20 years, Canadians pay some of the highest costs in the world for child care. In certain provinces, the costs add to over 25 per cent of the average household net income. The hardest hit households are those with multiple children who are not yet school-aged, single-income families, and those with fixed incomes.
