from Glendale News-Press
Camp #902 of the Civilian Conservation Corp., or CCC, was built in La Tuna Canyon back in the days of the Great Depression. The CCC was a nationwide work-relief program to provide “millions of young men employment on environmental projects,” according to history.com. At one point, there were some 2,650 camps — California had more than 150, as noted in ccclegacy.org.
