Children's Park, the downtown park used by homeless people, will get an $8 million makeover
from The San Diego Union-Tribune
After years of planning, the city of San Diego is moving ahead with an $8 million overhaul of Children’s Park that, if successful, will attract regular use by families, nearby workers and downtown residents — as opposed to serving as a hangout for homeless persons. The renovation effort, which is expected to be finished in the summer of 2021, will keep the current Civic Pond adjacent to West Harbor Drive, but replace the urban forest area with a number of family-friendly amenities intended to activate the entire space.
