Why raising taxes on the rich isn't so crazy
Democrats are not satisfied with the economy. Yes, unemployment is way down and the stock market is way up, but average hard-working Americans are still having a hard time getting ahead. Inequality has gotten so far out of hand that it's become a drag on U.S. growth. That's why some Democrats, both moderate and on the left, are proposing higher taxes on the wealthy not only as a way of financing new spending on social programs and a Green New Deal, but also of redistributing some of the wealth that the richest families are essentially just sitting on.
