TJ Schultz and TSA host ASAC Checkpoint Working Group Meeting
On January 16, 2020, ACC’s TJ Shultz, in conjunction with the TSA Innovation Task Force hosted a meeting of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) Security Technology Subcommittee and Checkpoint Report Working Group at the TSA headquarters in Crystal City, VA. Prime on the agenda was a review of the status of key recommendations in the 2017 Checkpoint Report as well as an update on the implementation of ASAC related TSA Modernization Act provisions. The meeting kicked off with a workshop on the status of TSA Administrator’s Intent document. The agency is working to update the document (version 2), collaborating broadly with stakeholders (industry, airlines, airports and equipment manufacturers) to gather feedback and suggestions for consideration. Focus areas for the next two years, as well as lessons learned from the initial intent document (version 1) were discussed. TSA presented on its oversight for finding and deploying technology to increase security and improve the passenger experience in the next 5 years. The meeting was well attended by a cross section of stakeholders in aviation technology. If you are interested in the slide presentations, please send a request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
