LifeWay Research survey: Protestant pastors disagree about arming congregants during worship
Pastors disagree on whether congregants should carry guns in church. A new survey from the Nashville-based LifeWay Research found the issue divided Protestant pastors with 45% saying armed members were a part of their church's security plan. But 27% said their church has a policy explicitly prohibiting firearms in their building. The issue was recently thrust into the spotlight after the Dec. 29 shooting at West Freeway Church of Christ in Texas. Two armed church members were credited with saving lives by confronting the gunman and fatally shooting him.
