Bill encouraging veterans to pursue STEM careers passes Congress, heads to president's desk

from Ellwood City Ledger

A bipartisan bill co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb last year that would encourage veterans to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math is awaiting President Donald Trump's signature after passing Congress. The Supporting Veterans in STEM Careers Act was passed by the House after the Senate approved it in December. It was the companion piece to the bill introduced in January 2019 by U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn, R-Fla., and co-sponsored by Lamb, D-17, Mount Lebanon, and which originally passed the House in February 2019. The Senate version, proposed by U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., includes a requirement to study the bill's impact on veterans. more
