Board of Regents acts to amend regulations related to special education due process procedures
The Board of Regents has acted to amend regulations to improve the special education due process system in New York State, including measures designed to increase the number of special education impartial hearing officers (IHO) for due process complaints in New York City. The proposed regulatory changes will help address the backlog of cases in New York City and provide some flexibility to allow videoconferencing to alleviate some pressure on the due process system.
