ABOM Adjusts Requirements for 2021 Cycle

from TOS/American Board of Obesity Medicine

In response to COVID-19 concerns, the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) is adjusting its requirements for the 2021 test cycle to ensure that physicians who are subject to travel restrictions may still apply to sit for the certification exam. For this test cycle only, any Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits offered by ABOM's primary obesity medicine CME partners (ObesityWeek®, The Obesity Society, Obesity Medicine Association, Columbia/Weill Cornell Obesity Course, Harvard Blackburn Course in Obesity Medicine, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery) will qualify for GROUP ONE credit, including all in-person and online options.

This change is in effect for physicians applying to sit for the exam only in February 2021. Physicians planning to sit for the exam in future years will need to adhere to the original requirements that call for at least 30 CME credits earned through in-person attendance at designated GROUP ONE meetings.
