Californiaproposed changes to the California Building Standards Code, Title 24, which is scheduled for publication in January 2021 with an effective date of July 2021. All proposed actions are subject to a 45-day public comment period. All public comments must be posted by close of business on May 18, 2020. Key changes cover health care facilities and include:
  • Adds a 36” by 36” shower stall design option for consistency with Chapter 11B and the Federal Housing Act Design Manual.
  • Provides additional tolerances for reach depth based on available cabinet size (depth of 24”) and accommodation for an overhanging lip (bullnose).
California - The California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) is providing notice of 45-day public comment period for proposed code changes intended for inclusion in the 2019 California Building Standards Code, Title 24, which is scheduled for publication in January 2021 with an effective date of July 2021. The public is invited to provide input or comments on changes. All comments for the state agency proposals linked below must be submitted to CBSC no later than close of business on May 26, 2020. Key changes are to the California Plumbing Code include:
  • The proposed action would update Title 24, Part 5, requiring Pre-rinse spray valves to align with the Appliance Efficiency regulations adopted by the California Energy Commission in Title 20 of the California Code of Regulations and with federal regulations. The new requirement adds three product classes of spray valves and a maximum flow rate for each product class.
  • Specifies new water flowrates, spray force, and marking requirements for commercial pre-rinse spray valves for consistency with the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Appliance Efficiency Regulations and federal requirements.
New Jersey (S2346 and A3919) - Section 2 of P.L.2008, c.78 (C.40:55D-136.2) is amended to allow for the suspension of government approval either in existence on March 9, 2020, or granted during the COVID-19 crisis for approvals impacting real estate finance sector of the economy, real estate developers and redevelopers, including homebuilders, and commercial, office, and industrial developers
