Hemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide. In the United States, 11% of pregnancy‐related deaths were due to hemorrhage in the years 2011 to 2016.1 In 2 analyses of US hospital births, the incidence of PPH increased 26%, from 2.3% in 1994 to 2006 to 2.9% in 2012 to 2013.
