Federal court blocks timber sale in Alaskan national forest

The ruling ends the U.S. Forest Service's plan to open 37.5 square miles of old-growth forest in the Tongass National Forest and prevents a new road construction project. While conservationists are happy with the ruling, the Alaska Forest Association believes it threatens the viability of the state's timber industry.
