Characteristics and outcomes of lung cancer in solid organ transplant recipients
from Lung Cancer via MD Linx
Researchers sought to describe the features of patients who developed lung cancer after solid organ transplantation. In addition, they compared their outcomes vs those of lung cancer patients with no history of transplant. There were 44 solid organ transplant recipients who developed lung cancer included in this single-institution retrospective study, along with a cohort of 74 lung cancer patients with no history of transplant. Stage III or IV disease was diagnosed in 52 percent of post-transplant patients who developed lung cancer.
