Some patients wait months as Saskatchewan grapples with surgery backlog
from Saskatoon StarPhoenix
Thousands of patients in Saskatchewan are waiting months for elective surgery as the province continues to chip away at a backlog it racked up in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of patients who had waited three months or more for surgery has ballooned since March, when the Saskatchewan Health Authority put a temporary moratorium on non-emergent surgeries as hospitals braced for a potential wave of COVID-19 patients.
