Great Lakes ports experiencing pandemic-caused dip
New data shows that shipping on the Great Lakes has taken a hit this year due to the pandemic. From April through the end of August, cargo volumes in the St. Lawrence Seaway, which is the gateway to the Great Lakes, was down 8% compared to 2019's figures. That's according to the Chamber of Marine Commerce, a binational organization that represents marine industry stakeholders.
