Stories of Triumph From our Public Community
ADAA regularly publishes personal stories of triumph from our public audience sharing how they have overcome anxiety, depression, and co-occurring disorders.
For the month of May – to honor Mental Health Awareness Month – we have reached out to our story authors and asked them to share a video about why speaking out and #breakingthestigma about mental health matters.
Here is Antonio's story.
Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! My name is Antonio Liranzo, I am an actor and author. I believe that breaking the stigma is so important and it is ok to not be ok.
In the past year, I have been on my own journey with my anxiety. I discovered that I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), I started seeing a therapist weekly and writing all my feelings and thoughts into poetry as a form of expression. I hope this video helps anyone watching, I want you to know that you are not alone.
It's been quite the journey for me and it's not over, working on your mental health is always going to be constant work, but we got this.
