Chronic periodontitis influences prognosis and the severity of heart attacks

Researchers from the University of Granada have demonstrated for the first time that chronic periodontitis, an inflammatory gum disease that provokes gradual tooth loss, is closely related to the severity of acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as heart attack.

The increases offset declines in other areas, such as an 11 percent decrease in gross production per comprehensive exam.
