Noncompete Agreements: A Primer
On average, the modern worker will remain at a job for only 4.4 years. Employee flux creates opportunities for employers to shop the market for talent, but it also creates challenges for retaining highly skilled labor. One such challenge is guarding against employees who may join competing firms or perform competing activities with information and knowledge unfairly obtained from a previous employer.
Circumstances, statutes, and court decisions all play a factor in noncompete agreements. Read more in Noncompete Agreements: A Primer in the May 2015 issue of the AAPS Newsmagazine (member login required).

How To Navigate A Make (Or Break) Career Moment
FORTUNE
Author Stacia Pierce writes: After hosting the Women’s Success Conference for 10 years, I decided it was time for a change. I had been a motivational speaker for many years. I traveled the nation speaking at women’s events and hosting my own annual conference. Each year, thousands of women and teens would show up to my conference with the expectation of learning how to lead successful and fulfilling lives.
But then I started to receive letters from many of the women who attended my conference. They were inspired not only by what they learned at the conference, but by my business acumen.

How To Get A Job If You're Overqualified
Forbes
One of New York job coach Robert Hellmann’s clients had an impressive résumé as a senior human resources manager. The client had logged 20 years of experience, managed 30 people and commanded a budget of $10 million. But he found himself at a point in his life where he didn’t want the pressure that comes with a senior position. Instead, he was shooting for a job that only required eight years of experience and few managerial responsibilities.

Clinical Leader
After a year of discussions, white papers, roundtables, and the vetting of issues by stakeholders across the industry, both democrats and republicans are ready to move forward with legislation that would attempt to bring the drug discovery and approval process into the 21st century. Ten Tests To Assess Influence
By Randall Craig
Influencers can recommend you — or they can hurt you. They can bring your name to a completely new audience and provide unique insights because of their relationships.

How People Succeed in High Pressure Jobs Without Working 80-hour Weeks
Government Executive
In the U.S., it’s a common expectation that workers be committed to their job above all else. It’s called the “ideal worker image,” and whether they admit it or not, companies reward people who embrace it. Boston University professor Erin Reid conducted in-depth interviews with employees about that expectation at an elite U.S. consulting firm (anonymized and called “AGM”). She tied that data to performance reviews and promotions to find out the real effects of a culture that expects 80-plus-hour work weeks in a recent paper published at Organization Science.
Does Maturity Really Matter In Leadership?
By Betty Boyd
Maturity is usually relegated to those individuals who are considered wise and sage. Maturity does not always mean you are of a certain age. Most people view someone that not only is mature but also has a position.
Leadership expert John Maxwell relates, "Leadership is a process, not a position."
