Southwest Airways Flight 844 from Minneapolis had just landed at Chicago's Midway International Airport last December and was about to cross a runway on its way to the terminal when the co-pilot noticed a business jet barreling toward him. When Jefferson County found out the only commercial airline serving the Beaumont-Port Arthur region would discontinue its three daily flights to Bush Intercontinental Airport at the end of June, officials scrambled to find out whether another service would take its place. Glynn is the former COO of Partners HealthCare System. Upon leaving Partners HealthCare in 2010, he worked as an adjunct lecturer at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. US Senate passes bill exempting US airlines from participating in EU ETS

The US Senate unanimously passed a bill allowing the transportation secretary to direct US airlines to not participate in the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS), which Airlines for America (A4A) claims is a violation of international law and U.S. sovereignty. More

Dublin Airport Authority goes to High Court to stop strikes in Irish airports

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) will ask the Irish High Court to restrain the threatened industrial action that would effectively close down Dublin, Shannon, and Cork airports. According to the Irish Times, the authority granted leave to give the Services Industrial Professional and Technical Union (SIPTU) notice of its intention to seek injunctions restraining the proposed strike actions. Bhubaneswar airport to be made international soon

A new terminal at the Bhubaneswar airport is expected to be commissioned by December this year and the airport will be upgraded to international status soon, the civil aviation ministry said. "Once the new building will be commissioned, the existing terminal building will be renovated for services which are necessary to make it suitable for international operations," the ministry said in a statement.
