I am writing to invite you to join me on October 3 at the upcoming ACPA Vision Day, which will take place at the University of Delaware in beautiful Newark, Delaware. This is an annual, one-day drive-in institute hosted by the sitting ACPA President.
Vision Day 2013 will focus on innovation in higher education in the 21st century, stimulate your thinking, and inspire you. ACPA members who are, or would like to be thought leaders on their campuses are invited to join us to unlock ideas, and help rethink what is possible and essential in the future of higher and tertiary education.
This institute includes a myriad of dynamic speakers from inside and outside of education, two meals, invaluable opportunities to network, and time and space for reflection. The speakers will offer their insights in a condensed and energetic format to stimulate thoughts and fresh ideas. Check back often as the list is updated!
As I mentioned in my presidential address during the past annual convention, "ACPA is 90 years old and I think it is fitting that 90 is the granite anniversary. Granite is solid, valuable, and beautiful. But we must not confuse our solid foundation, with rigidity, staleness, or an inability to be nimble, innovative, and visionary. In fact, having a solid foundation and knowing our core values allows us a sort of freedom. It allows us the stability to reinvent ourselves on top of that foundation and after 90 years, to be a leading force in higher education in the 21st century."
I hope you can join me on my home campus, the University of Delaware, on October 3 to further this conversation on innovation in higher and tertiary education in the 21st century.
Kathleen G. Kerr, ACPA President 2013-2014
