College Grads Less Affected By Recession

Virtually all the jobs recovered from the recession that began in 2007 required some form of postsecondary education, says a study. The study emphasizes the ongoing need for education beyond high school, the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce reported. The number of jobs requiring bachelor's degrees has grown by 2.2 million since the recession began, the study said, while 5.8 million jobs for those with a high school education or less have been lost. Immigrants Line Up By Thousands For Deportation Deferrals

Tens of thousands of young illegal immigrants waited excitedly in lines as long as a mile and thronged to information sessions across the country, the first day that a federal immigration agency began accepting applications for deportation deferrals that include permits to work legally. The public outpouring surprised both federal officials and immigrant advocates, who had expected an enthusiastic response to the Obama administration's deferral program but were unprepared for the size and intensity of it. Susan Komives Retiring As ACPA CAS Representative
This month, Susan Komives will be retiring from her role as ACPA Director on the CAS Board of Directors. She has served ACPA in this role for a number of years as well as served as CAS President. Gavin Henning will assume the role of ACPA Director for CAS while Terrell Strayhorn will serve as the Alternate Director. ACPA thanks Dr. Komives for her contributions to ACPA and CAS.
