June 4 marks the 30th Annual National Cancer Survivors Day®, which brings cancer survivors together to show that there is life after receiving a diagnosis of cancer.
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) have created a poster that you can use to promote this day within your program and the community. Take this opportunity to display or promote your NAPBC and/or CoC accreditation status. Programs that have accreditation from the CoC only or both CoC and NAPBC accreditation can access the poster by going to CoC Datalinks and clicking on Marketing Resources. For centers that are solely NAPBC accredited, please use the link to the Marketing Resources website provided in your performance report email notification.
Additional resources to promote your event are available on the National Cancer Survivors Day website.

Of 240 invasive breast cancers found by screening that went untreated, zero (0) went away. Of 239 noninvasive cases (DCIS), zero (0) regressed, as reported by the breast imaging specialists in a survey. In sum, 0 of 479 untreated breast tumors disappeared without treatment, according to the radiologists who participated.

Among patients previously treated for a type of advanced lung cancer, use of a combination treatment did not improve progression-free or overall survival, according to a study published by JAMA.
Genotype-directed targeted therapy is the standard of care for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Approximately 2 percent of Americans will be diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma during their lifetimes, according to NCI statistics. Follicular lymphoma — the most common subtype, often diagnosed in those aged 50 and older — typically is an incurable but indolent disease. Median OS in this patient population is 18 years.
Some patients with a low tumor burden require no treatment; instead, they follow a watch-and-wait approach.
