Jewelers of America has launched a campaign to fight a proposed luxury tax of 3 percent in Connecticut. The luxury tax was introduced as part of Gov. Dannel Malloy's proposed 2012-2013 state budget. Malloy's plan, if passed, would raise sales tax from 6 percent to 6.35 percent in general, and jewelry sales of more than $5,000 would be taxed at 9.35 percent. More
