Colored gemstones ready to shine at the Oscars
Firstwater News    Share   Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The Oscars are only a week away, and Hollywood is abuzz with stars and their stylists deciding what to wear on one of the biggest fashion nights of the year. Some stars choose not one but two ensembles -- one for the main event and another for the after parties. Appearing in two completely different outfits doubles a celebrity's chance of exposure because magazines are likely to run both images of the star. More

'Restock, reinvest and revive' was the mantra for vendors and retailers attending the Tucson gemstone shows
Rapaport    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
A purging of excess inventory in the past year readied jewelers to shop again at the annual gem and jewelry shows held in Tucson, Ariz., in early February. Optimism looms for an upswing in business by the second half of 2010. More

Pearls -- naturally delicious
Color-n-Ice    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail
Long ago in another time all pearl jewelry was natural. And by natural we mean the organic jewel of a lowly bivalve developed spontaneously inside a mollusk hiding in the dark murky ocean. Pearl jewelry predating the 20th century in its original state -- without tampering -- is the genuine deal. More

Beauty this season showcased new ways to do your lips, eyes and hair, from heavily done-up to undone. Donna Karan's makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury painted lips cherry red. Tom Pecheux topped pouts with sparkles at Doo.Ri, and Makky of M.A.C. Cosmetics created a two-tone lip at Nanette Lepore. As for eyes, when they weren't completely plain, they were dramatic. Sun Sentinel    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
South Florida gets its share of glamazons coming through the region. We even have our fair share of local Florida fashionistas as go-to experts. So we took advantage of being a crossroads for the stylish set and asked them what trends we might see on the Academy Award "red carpet" March 7 based on the award shows that already have handed out their trophies. Lugano Diamonds sunglasses
Luxist    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
World-renowned jeweler Lugano Diamonds has come out with a new set of sunglasses designed by Barton Perriera that feature frames inlaid with clear and colored diamonds. This one is my favorite with its pink lenses, gold frame and 2.85 carats of fancy pink diamonds. Diamonds on sunglasses all too often end up looking gaudy and overly flashy, but these are nicely understated. More
