While I arrived at the suite early, nearly half a dozen pieces left before I did -- and some were absolutely killer pieces I wanted to feature. They all looked stunned at the experience, but they seemed to relax after a bit and enjoy it and walked away borrowing some incredible jewelry for both men and women. More

The publishing group compiled a list of 1,011 billionaires who had a combined net worth of $3.6 trillion in 2010, up from a total net worth of $2.4 trillion in 2009. The world's wealthiest man was Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico, with an estimated fortune of $53.5 billion, an increase of $18.5 billion from the previous year's tally. The list included a number of executives involved in the diamond and jewelry industry. New York state Supreme Court dismisses case against DDC IDEX Share ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() New York state Supreme Court Justice Michael D. Stallman has dismissed a lawsuit initiated by David Abraham against New York's Diamond Dealers Club, the DDC announced March 11. Abraham, the club's former vice president, petitioned the court in February 2009 to void a vote by the DDC to change its December 2008 by-laws. In reading all of Abraham's papers, affidavits and briefs, Stallman denied all of his motions and dismissed the case. More Surat diamond sector back to full employment Rapaport Share ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just one year after a mass exodus of workers from Surat's diamond sector, the city's industry again is operating at full employment and growing its status as the world's most important diamond manufacturing hub. Rohit Mehta, president of the Surat Diamond Association, estimated that approximately 4,600 manufacturing units were operating in Surat, both before the downturn and currently, approximately 90 percent of which are micro- and small-scale businesses. Given the disorganized nature of the sector, he stressed that it was difficult to collect definitive data on the industry. More |
