Emerald auction nets Gemfields $10 million

Gemfields concluded its auction of predominantly lower-quality rough emerald and beryl in India, achieving a sales total of $9.9 million. Gemfields offered 16.83 million carats, 12.98 million carats of which were sold. This auction was also used as a platform to test the level of demand for rough amethyst derived from Gemfields' Kariba mine in Zambia. The results of the test were encouraging and Gemfields expects to sell significant quantities of rough amethyst into the market. More
