One of the primary missions of the American Gem Trade Association is to provide information and education to help sell more colored gemstones and cultured pearls. AGTA also believes that the greatest need for this education exists on the front lines with the sales associates who work directly with the consumer. Gemfields hits record $31.6 million from emerald auction

Gemfields placed more than 1.07 million carats of emeralds up for auction, with 740,000 carats sold, generating record auction sales of $31.6 million. The auction highlighted a rise in prices being paid for fine gemstones, with an increase of 63 percent paid per carat compared with the higher quality auction held by Gemfields in December last year.
