It's one thing to put on a jewelry store promotion; it's another to make it pay off. That's the word from Nathaniel Smith, sales manager at Christopher's Fine Jewelry Design in Champaign, Ill., who speaks from experience. The store recently put on a hugely popular contest called "Happily Ever After," bringing together 22 couples to compete for a wedding prize package worth $15,000. Among other tangible benefits, the store ended up tripling its customer email list. More
