Winners announced for AGTA's 2011 Spectrum Awards competition AGTA Share ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Winners have been named in the 2011 AGTA Spectrum Awards competition hosted by the American Gem Trade Association. This year marks the 27th anniversary of the competition. The competition was held Oct. 23 to 24 in New York at a penthouse studio in Greenwich Village. Judges for the 2011 competition included Tanya Dukes of Elite Traveler magazine, Jennifer Gandia of Greenwich Jewelers, Glenn Lehrer of Lehrer Designs, Mallary Marks of Mallary Marks Inc. and Robin Rotenier of Rotenier Ltd. The annual AGTA Spectrum Awards Media Day was held Oct. 25 and featured all of the jewelry and gemstone submissions. More
Bulgari blue fetches $16 million at Christie's New York Rapaport Share ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A Bulgari blue diamond ring, featuring the largest triangular-shaped fancy vivid blue diamond to appear at auction, sold for $15.7 million, or $1.4 million per carat at Christie's New York. The total auction sold for $52.5 million with 90 percent of the 448 lots sold. The Bulgari ring includes a triangular-shaped, 10.95 carat, fancy vivid blue, VS2 diamond set back to back with a triangular-shaped, 9.87 carat, G, VS1 diamond. Bidding for the stone started with an $8 million bid from a client on the phone in Asia. While traditional categories, such as apparel and books, remained staple gifts in 2010, NRF found that 23 percent of shoppers added jewelry to their list this season. Victoria's Secret $2 million bra modeled by Adriana Lima Luxist Share ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Victoria's Secret has worked with Damiani again to create their annual jewel-covered bra. This year's Bombshell Fantasy bra is modeled by Victoria's Secret Angel Adriana Lima. The bra has a total of 142 carats in stones with 60 carats of white diamonds and 82 carats of topaz and sapphires. Lima will wear the bra at the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which airs Nov. 30 on CBS. The bra is valued at $2 million. Sotheby's to auction 24.78-carat intense pink diamond IDEX Share ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sotheby's Geneva Magnificent Jewels auction will include a 24.78-carat fancy intense pink VVS2 emerald cut diamond, although said to have flawless potential after re-polishing. The fancy pink is a Type IIa diamond, a classification that fewer than 2 percent of diamonds have. The pink diamond carries a presale estimate of $27 million to $38 million.
