Sustainable trends of the new architecture are shaping the industry. If you want a building committed to the environment, there is nothing better than CUPACLAD, the natural slate rainscreen cladding system. Natural slate’s inimitable appearance is a real eye-catcher and, at the same time, the best possible barrier against extreme weather. Know more

PROSURANCE REDEKER GROUP
Together with growing pressure to shorten project schedules and decrease costs, there is a general acknowledgment that specialty subcontractors often have their own approach to fabrication and installation of project components. It is therefore increasingly common for architects and engineers to delegate aspects of the project’s design to the general contractor and its subs. But if the contract and/or project documentation is ambiguous, the design professional may look back and wish that it had provided detailed design of every connection, nut and bolt itself. Read the full article to find out why.

Bridges with limb-inspired architecture can withstand earthquakes, cut repair costs
ScienceDaily
Structural damage to any of the nation's ailing bridges can come with a hefty price of billions of dollars in repairs. New bridge designs promise more damage-resistant structures and, consequently, lower restoration costs. But if these designs haven't been implemented in the real world, predicting how they can be damaged and what repair strategies should be implemented remain unresolved.

How indigenous architecture can change the way we live on earth
Vogue
We’re beginning to understand a great irony of climate change: that the people most affected by it often did the least to cause it. What’s less discussed is that many of those people also have the technology, philosophy, and knowledge that could have prevented the rising temperatures, the uncontrollable wildfires, and the dying coral reefs in the first place.

How deafness shapes our world
Fast Company
As a design director who was born deaf, Jeffrey Mansfield has long been interested in the relationship between deafness and physical spaces. He has noticed how spaces designed with deafness in mind, like the school for the deaf he attended growing up, are different from other kinds of architecture, and how some spaces can limit or extend a deaf person’s sensory awareness.

Bamboo formwork and exposed concrete in architectural projects
ArchDaily
While concrete is without a doubt the world's go-to building material thanks to its durability, malleability, and ability to withstand a wide range of climates, it is also the principal source of CO2 emissions within the realm of construction. To combat this and reduce their creations' carbon footprint, many architects have begun experimenting and innovating in a bid to optimize concrete's technical qualities while diminishing its impact on the environment.
