On Aug. 11, 2016 Assembly Appropriation Committee heard SB 1039 (Hill) that increases the workload of the BRN. This bill would require the BRN to audit continuing education providers every 5 years and mandate all nursing continuing education be based in generally accepted scientific knowledge. While ANA\C without a question supports evidence-base nursing practice & education, we continue to question the capacity of the BRN to effectively work on all courses curriculums and their approvals and to efficiently provide timely audits without increased budget and staffing.
