APSP's IHTA Engineering Committee wants to remind hot tub manufacturers of an important European Union regulation that impacts how you do business. Since 2007, REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) has been active and something for manufacturers of pool products to be aware of but based on a September 2015 court ruling, REACH also applies to hot tubs.

From March 28: Great News! The International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC) has 117 local adoptions. Download the ISPSC Adoption Status Report. Developed jointly by APSP and the International Code Council (ICC), this is the only comprehensive swimming pool code coordinated with the current requirements in the I-Codes and APSP Standards. The ISPSC establishes minimum regulations for public and residential pools, spas and hot tubs using prescriptive and performance related provisions. You can view the I-Codes for free here.
